ABSTRACT
During pregnancy, it is vital to know the health of fetus and fetal movement count is one of the most commonly used methods. There is a big interest in the development of passive methods for fetus monitoring that can be done in the nonclinical setting. Therefore, this study was conducted to design an electrical resistance tomography-based system that will enable pregnant mothers to monitor fetal movement at home. Electrical resistance tomography (ERT) system consists of a conductive fabric used as e-skin on top of abdomen and the changes in the electrical properties of fabric due to fetal movement are identified. Numerical simulations are presented as a preliminary study for fetus monitoring.
