ABSTRACT

Electrical resistance tomography (ERT) is a common technique in process tomography research, but it is rarely used in the environmental monitoring field. In this study, a biological early warning system based on the principle of ERT is designed to perform monitoring of water quality, especially the water pollution accidents. The alcohol solution is adopted as a simulation of pollutant to stimulate the zebra fish, which is selected as the tested organism and their behavioural responses are compared between the pre-exposed and post-exposed to the pollutant. Experimental results show that the proposed system is effective in analyzing the water quality and realizing the warning of water quality variation for polluted water.
