Abstract: This paper introduces the ultrasonic attenuation spectrum (UAS) into the process tomography (PT) of the multiphase flow and discusses the feasibility of this method. The ultrasonic attenuation spectrum method is always used to measure the concentration and particle sizing distribution of the suspensions, emulsions, and slurries. The using of ultrasonic attenuation spectrum method in computed tomography will offer two more parameters such as the average concentration and size distribution. There are four important parts need to be solved in this measurement method, which contained the proper theoretical model, the measurement of experimental ultrasonic attenuation spectrum and ultrasonic velocity spectrum, the concentration and size distribution inversion algorithm, and the inversion algorithm of concentrated tomography. The abbreviated model of ECAH is proposed and described to use in the measurement. The combination between ultrasonic attenuation spectrum method and ultrasonic computed tomography will enhance the application and implementation.
