Abstract
The study has been conducted to investigate the characteristics of mesoscale combustion. Combustion visualization including igniting, quenching and unsteady combustion have been obtained using ECT system which would have significant impact on micropower systems and other advanced combustion technology. The method of metallization protecting ECT sensor from high temperature damage and the novel calibration method adapting to ECT monitoring of unknown permittivity flame have been shown in this paper. At the same time, the electric nature of combustion and the imaging principle were studied which would make the general technique even more useful for the monitoring and control of combustion process.
