A H Approach for Robust Estimation of Material Parameters in ECT

The stable solution of ill posed inverse problems like that of electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) relies on the availability of an accurate forward model. However, due to discretization or neglected effects model errors are present. The error amplitudes of these model errors are often in the same range as typical measurement errors or can even increase their amplitude. In this paper we present a H filter approach for robust parameter estimation in ECT. We work out the performance of H theory compared to other methods (in particular Kalman filters) and demonstrate the improved error handling due to robust filter theory.
