An electromagnetic tomography (EMT) system based on FPGA is presented in order to improve the performance. The task of the generation of the excitation signal, the control of the external circuitry and the digital demodulation are all implemented by the FPGA. The influence of the excitation signal frequency, the sample frequency and the accumulation number of the MAC IP core on the demodulation is analyzed and a general principle is proposed. A backprojection algorithm based on truncated singular value is selected to reconstruct the different distribution, and the speed of reconstruction is 27 frame/s. Via this design, the integration of the system is increased and the difficulty of the debugging is decreased.
Keywords electromagnetic tomography, field programmable gate array (FPGA), digital demodulation, image reconstruction.
