A Novel Image Reconstruction Algorithm Based on Trust Region for Electrical Capacitance Tomography System

ABSTRACT
For the "soft field" effect and ill-posed problem in Electrical Capacitance Tomography, an improved new trust region algorithm is proposed for electrical capacitance tomography. Base on the analysis of the basic principles of electrical capacitance tomography, calculation steps of trust region algorithm are deduced for solving ECT inverse problem, and the Hesse matrix produced in iterative process is corrected according to BFGS formula. The convergence of trust region algorithm is analyzed, the result shows that it is easy to meet the convergence condition and error of image reconstruction is small. Results of experiment and simulation data indicate that for simple flow pattern, compared with LBP, Landweber and conjugate gradient algorithms, this new algorithm provides high quality images and favourable stabilization, and it presents a feasible and effective way to research on image reconstruction for electrical capacitance tomography system.
