Abstract
We report on a Photonic Guided Path Tomography system developed by using Plastic Optical Fibers as sensing elements. Our development involves only 46 fibers arranged in four angular projections at 0, 45, 90 and 135 degrees. However, despite these data limitation, we demonstrate here satisfactory results of the location of the center of mass of the main constituents of the scene by offline implementation of the Parallel Center of Mass Algorithm. Furthermore, by realizing this algorithm on a Field Programmable Gate Array development board, we deliver results that offer a substantial reduction in execution time when compared to sequential implementations.
