Abstract - Acoustic pyrometry is a measurement technique for the temperature of flue gas inside large scale combustion chambers. Detection of first arrival times of acoustic signals leads to coarse reconstructions of the velocity of sound which is directly related to gas temperature. In addition these data contain information about the velocity of flue gas.
Waveform inversion makes use of the time resolved data recorded by the micro- phones and detects a more detailed model for the speed of sound by solving the inverse problem of the appropriate wave equation.
