A Specific Signal Conditioner for Electrical Impedance Tomography

ABSTRACT


A high precision signal conditioner with a fast data demodulation speed and low noise for an electrical impedance tomography system is essential for a flow measurement application. A wide frequency bandwidth is also highly desirable, particularly when phase measurements are required. This paper reports on innovations in the design of a specific signal conditioner for EIT, which include an Equal- Width Pulse Synthesizer (EWPS) and a Synchronized Digital Demodulator (SDD) for a multiphase flow meter. A number of constraints in conventional signal conditioners for EIT have been overcome in the newly designed signal conditioner, which is necessary for the application of electrical impedance tomography for fast flow measurements. The principles and performance of the signal conditioner will be presented.
