ABSTRACT

In this paper, an effective method, namely a quasi-three-dimensional method of moment (Quasi-3D MOM), for modelling of electromagnetic wave scattering from cylindrical dielectric objects of infinite length is presented. A wire-volumetric electric field integral equation (EFIE) is first given to explain the electromagnetic wave scattering for microwave tomography (MT) systems. Then, the cylindrical object in MT system is discretised into many small square cylindrical cells of infinite length and several sets of new basis functions are defined in these small cells. Finally, the Galerkin method is employed to solve the wire-volumetric EFIE. Some numerical results are presented to demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of our method.
