Simulation of Fast X-ray Industrial Tomographic Imaging from Limited Projection Data using Elastic Matching Technique

Traditional tomographic imaging of industrial and medical objects is usually related to difficulties in multi data collecting and large computational burden. On the other hand, limited data do not allow for quality image reconstruction. The article introduces the virtual deformation technology, giving the opportunity to provide tomographic imaging of the objects given limited input projection data in the case when a source object image is available. This technique recently obtained recognition in medical imaging procedures. The article represents the start of the application of this technique for industrial x- ray tomography, demonstrating its main peculiarities using elastic matching deformation of simulated input data.
