ABSTRACT
An application of ultrasonic tomography for the velocity profile image construction of gas flowing in a circular pipe is discussed in this paper. Usually, ultrasonic flowmeters are used to measure the average velocity in the axial direction. The authors have extended the idea of measurement of an average speed flow to the idea of measuring a speed profile in a cross section of the pipe. This idea leads directly to a multipath ultrasonic tomography.
