ABSTRACT
Application of wearable Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) sensor for real time imaging demands for a change from the electrode configuration with a static position as a conventional electrode to a deformable electrode that can accommodate the dynamic conformations of the patients arms [1]. The deformable electrode allows for the irregular shape patient’s body that is unknown prior to patient analysis and needs a dynamic Jacobian matrix calculation [2][3]. Real-time dynamic Jacobian matrix with a deformable electrode for wearable EIT needs a high performance Personal Computer (PC) that in most cases is not readily available in wearable EIT. In this novel study, real-time dynamic Jacobian matrix with a deformable electrode is developed by using cloud computing technique to replace the physical PC and the result of computation will be displayed in a smartphone. The process of calculating updated mesh from the deformable electrode is carried out in Microsoft Azure Cloud Service by using H series Virtual Machine (VM). The updated mesh is then used for Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation and dynamic Jacobian Matrix calculation by using Message Parsing Interface Technique in two H series VM. The results from the dynamic Jacobian matrix with a deformable electrode showed that the computational speed significantly increased to 8.26 Arial that of the conventional approach and the reconstructed image was more real compared to that of the static Jacobian matrix sensor. Implementation of cloud computing in wearable EIT replaces the usage of physical high performance PC and forms the genesis of the IoT (Internet of Things) era of Electrical Tomography.
